Reasons for practicing chiropractic
-
I was a member of University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) track and field team training for the heptathlon until multiple injuries from years of poor training and unsuccessful treatments made competing injury-free improbable. I had been competing in AAU since age five and throughout my primary school years with high hopes of a collegiate and Olympic career. Seeing no way out of the cycle of injury, sadly, I quit the track team. While it was years after I had quit running that I became educated about chiropractic, it became my inspiration for this career path and my continued passion to help others in ways that I wasn’t able to be helped myself all those years ago.
-
After quitting track and field, I also decided to post-pone nursing school at Mizzou and began modeling for Chicago and Miami talent agencies, with much of my time from age 20-23 spent abroad in Japan. During that time many of the models I met were unhealthy, eating poorly to stay very thing and using caffeine and nicotine to ward off hunger. I discovered how passionate I was about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle and began tutoring some of the girls to make changes.
